PORTRAITS
Portrait Photography
Portrait photography sits at the core of Rolling Stills — photographing people with care, context and a strong sense of place. With over 15 years’ experience, Ange Butler works across editorial, commercial and private commissions, creating portraits that feel honest, considered and timeless.
Her approach is shaped by a background in studio portraiture and years spent working on location throughout regional Australia. Light, environment and tone are treated as part of the story, allowing portraits to unfold naturally rather than feel constructed. The result is imagery that feels grounded and expressive, without excess.
Ange’s portrait work is commissioned for editorial features, press imagery and brand storytelling, where presence and credibility matter. At the same time, she remains closely connected to the people and places that have long shaped her work — including families and couples throughout the South West.
Family portraits are photographed with the same quiet intention as her editorial work. Sessions are relaxed and unforced, focused on connection and the subtle moments in between. Many of these families are couples Ange previously photographed on their wedding day — relationships that continue as lives evolve and families grow.
Ange also photographs weddings selectively, specialising in regional and South West celebrations where landscape, community and story are inseparable from the day itself. These commissions sit naturally within her portrait practice, rooted in people and place.
Across all portrait work, the aim is simple: to create photographs that hold meaning over time — images that feel relevant now and valuable well into the future.
